I am always baffled by the bucket seat design. I get that it holds one better while zipping around in their sports car,
but it’s not so practical for normal driving.
It holds us in a rounded back and forward head position so that our shoulders and neck
slope forward and our upper back rounds.
Now any position is ok for a little while, but if you do any amount of driving, this gets old in a hurry!
Two Top Tips!
Tip # 1 Consider placing a vertical support along your spine. This can start at the sacrum
or mid back and extend all the way up to the base of your neck.
It will keep your spine from collapsing into the bucket seat and will keep you lifted!
Your neck will thank you too!
Tip # 2 Consider rolling up a towel and place it crosswise at your sacrum and pelvis.
This will keep your pelvis from tipping backwards and creates a nice solid base for Tip # 1!
It’s a much better idea to support your whole spine from below first so you create a stable base.
Then you can add support to fill in the gaps!
